Youtube Culture

Hello awesome people of the internet!
A few weeks ago I made a post about the sexual abuse scandal on youtube and how it drifted and now people are talking about youtube culture. As I said before, it is not bad that we are talking about new things but it is bad if you don't talk or ignore the past issue. However, I have already spoken about the sexual abuse scandal in my post "Youtube Culture vs Sexual Abuse". Please read it if you haven't already.

People have been saying that it is bad to idolise Youtubers - we barely know them and what they show on screen may not be genuine. That may be true, but if they are not being genuine that means they are acting and then we are idolising a character, and many people do idolise their favourite characters, whether that is a character from their favourite TV show or book. People also idolise actors and actresses- it's the same concept, we don't know them off screen, all we know is what the media tells us, and seriously how many of you believe everything the media tells you? So, yes I would agree that it is bad to idolise someone if you are talking about the exact person - the person you have never met. However, if you are talking about the person on the screen, the person who is at gatherings and their entire life revolves around entertaining the entire world, no it's not that bad to idolise that person.

Another thing that has been spoken about is the line between creator and viewer. Many Youtubers have said that they don't see it or see where we are coming from. Being a viewer, I do. I think there is a faint line between viewer and creator. However we think that it is hard to cross. It isn't. Crossing the line from viewer to creator isn't hard. Write a blog or start a youtube channel and you are one step there. The second step is harder, building an audience. Youtube is massive, so it is harder to get people to watch and listen to what you have to say. In a few videos, people were talking about the fence at gatherings and events. Yes, this does make the line a lot more prominent but that is for safety of viewer and creator not putting people in boxes. Using the words "creator" and "viewer" as if it was a title means we are boxing ourselves and making it harder to get rid of that line.

There is an ever widening gap between Youtuber and fan. We started to call the top Youtubers, Youtube celebrities and now we don't even need to keep the word "Youtube". They are basically celebrities. They can draw crowds and they are mentioned in the media. However, is that a bad thing? Technology is moving forward so the media has to keep up. No the gap will never close but we can cross the line and make the gap smaller.

If you have any thoughts on the subject please tell me bellow! I do read everything!

The Fault in Our Stars!

Hello Awesome People of the Internet!
Yesterday was amazing, my friends and I went to see The Fault in Our Stars, it was absolutely amazing but it was so sad. I finished the book ages ago and I loved it! If you haven't read it yet I won't spoil it, but I highly recommend it! The movie definitely met my extremely high expectations and it was just brilliant. I don't usually cry through movies but I did get teary-eyed at this. When the film became quiet, all you could hear were loads of people sobbing and wailing and this very emotional film! As we left the cinema, everyone had mascara streaming down their face! If you haven't read the book or seen the movie adaptation, you should, it's amazing!

Also, in July I am going to see In Hindsight. If you haven't heard of them, go and listen to them! They are amazing! They are a boy band and they are brilliant! They came to our school and performed to us! I know we are so lucky! My ticket came yesterday with one of their autographs! I was so happy!

As always my social media links are in the bookshelf, please feel free to email me, and please comment bellow about anything!

Itunes Shuffle Tag...

Hello Awesome People of the Internet!
So I just found the iTunes shuffle tag. It is probably not a tag but I just made it a tag, now go and tag people! Anyway, you put your iTunes into shuffle mode and say the first fifteen songs that come up. I'm going to regret this.

1) The Beat Goes On - Britney Spears
2) The Winner Takes It All - Mama Mia Version (originally by ABBA)
3)  Don't Walk Away - Hannah Montana - Yeah, Don't judge...
4)  I'll Be Waiting - Adele
5)  A Moment Like This - Leona Lewis
6)  Seven Years - Norah Jones
7)  Firework - Katy Perry
8) Sweat - Snoop Dogg
9) Lovesong - Adele
10) Written In The Stars - Disney
11) Dream - Hannah Montana - let me explain!
12) Our Last Summer - Mama Mia Version (originally by ABBA)
13) Americano - I don't know who sings this....
14) TTYLXOX - Shake it Up, Bella Thorne and Zendaya
15) Set Fire To The Rain - Adele

Just so you know, I have had my iTunes account since I was 11 and now I have a samsung phone, I don't use iTunes that regularly! Also, my friend bought me the Hannah Montana CD when I was about 10 so that's why I have Hannah Montana. Basically all of my music on my iTunes account was given as presents when I was younger! If you are interested in my music taste, I like rock, punk rock and dubstep! Some of my favourite bands and singers are; Skrillex, MCR, Greenday, Blink 182, Panic! at the disco, Fall Out Boy and All Time Low!

So what do you like to listen to? Please comment bellow what style of music you like and if you have any slightly embarrassing songs on your iTunes account (like Hannah Montana!)!! Also, please comment what you think of my blog theme, I'm not sure about it... it seems quite dark!  Tell me your thoughts!!

Youtube Culture Vs Sexual Abuse

Hi,
Firstly, this isn't going to be a fun and happy post, this is serious. Secondly, I don't usually talk about subjects of this nature on the internet but I do have a lot to say. Also, I know this has been talked about a lot but I want to talk about it. By the way, this isn't something to laugh and joke about, so if you are going to be nasty just leave.

So over the past few months there has been sexual abuse allegations about Youtubers. However, this topic slowly veered away from abuse and started to talk about Youtube culture. It's not bad that people are talking about new and different things, but it is bad is forgetting or ignoring the past issue. The sexual abuse in Youtube has been going on for years starting with Mike Lombardo in 2012. He's in prison now because of four counts of child pornography and pornography related crimes. This was two years ago, it was only in Febuary this year he was sent to prison.

Last week, a known and outed abuser has put a new video on Youtube, singing a song about how hard their life has been for them because they abused somebody and got caught. The person I am talking about is Eddplant. After getting caught, he came back to the social media site that he took advantage of. This is entirely inappropriate. However, apart from loosing our trust, he has also not allowed the victim to recover. Eddplant has also gone and deleted the comments written by the victim, not allowing her to be heard. His latest video wasn't an apology, however, people still said that they forgive him and that they were glad to have him back. Just to clarify, he didn't apologise, he wrote a song about how hard it has been for him because he got caught for abusing someone.

There were other reports and allegations on Alex Day, Tom Milsom, Luke Conard and Alex Carpenter. They have all been proven to have been manipulative and abusive and only admitted it after they had been caught. Olga who was abused by Tom Milsom wrote a post on Tumblr and told everyone her story. She was 15 and Milsom was 21 when they started dating and engaged in sexual activity when she was 16. Where she was from in America, the age of consent is 17.  She also mentioned how whenever she didn't wan't to do something Milsom would continue.

You always have a choice. Not saying 'no' is not the same as saying 'yes'. If the person you are with says 'no' then you stop. Even if the person you are with gives the impression that they are not in the mood, then you stop, in the eyes of the law, that is the same as saying 'no'. If you continue to have sex with them even if they have said 'no', in the eyes of the law, it is rape. If you get charged with it you can go to prison, get put on the sex offenders list and it will completely mess up your future. You probably don't want that. Consent is when there is an agreement between two people who want to have sex together. They haven't been forced or peer pressured, and they aren't under the influence of drugs, alcohol or anything else that could effect them. Consent is where both participants are sober and haven't been forced into anything they don't want to do.

Here is a list of people that I watched and you should watch to learn more about the topics I have been through:

Just so you know I am 14, I've never had a boyfriend and I haven't even had my first kiss, but I am going to talk about this. In another post I will talk about Youtube Culture, which is also going around on the internet. I'm not tell you to follow me, but I am going to ask you to do one thing for me. Share this, I know it has been spoken about a lot, but share this, even write a post on it, but make sure this is heard because not everyone is given a choice and is forced into having sex even if they don't want to do it. So please make sure this is heard.
